Top 10 Most Inspirational and Educational Movies To Watch

Movie list to get inspired, motivated, and expand your horizons

This is a movie list, in no particular order, that in my humble opinion everyone must watch. These are certainly not all but most of my favorite movies some of which got me inspired*, **motivated, or taught** me a thing or two.*

These movies will leave you speechless and they are very much realistic, after all, art imitates life, and as it turns out life imitates art too.

Spoiler Alert: There are a few spoilers in the descriptions of the movies combined with my subjective view on these movies, so feel free to skip them.

1: The Bookshop

This movie, written and directed by [Isabel Coixet](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isabel_Coixet "Isabel Coixet"), is about Florence Green ([Emily Mortimer](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emily_Mortimer "Emily Mortimer")), a strong, resilient, smart and innocent woman who had a dream to open a bookshop in the small town of Hardborough, Suffolk. Little did she know that by just doing her job and doing no harm, she would cause the agony of mean, weak, and cruel beings in the same town.

This is also a movie about unhearted people who use common narcissistic tactics such as manipulation, gaslighting, spreading lies about their target, isolating them, turning and agglomerating everyone against her with the goal to bully her, torture her, and eventually get rid of her by all means including illegal and unethical tactics. And all because they are frightened by the success of Emily’s bookstore and unable to succeed in healthy competition.

Disclaimer*: the story has a happy ending so stay tuned till the end.*

2: The Help (2011)

This is a great educational movie, written and directed by [Tate Taylor](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tate_Taylor "Tate Taylor") based on Kathryn Stockett’s. The Help is about African American maids’ point of view on the white families they work for, women who worked very hard but were treated very poorly, to say the least. This movie is also about the brevity of all these women and the courage of a young journalist, Skeeter Phelan (Emma Stone), who tells the maids’ story while knowing that telling the truth might potentially be life-threatening.

The movie is about racism, discrimination, bullying, brutality, and inhumanity. But it’s also an inspiring movie about courage, hard work, kindness, and the importance of staying human and speaking up when you see something bad happening.

The story has an incredible ending, revealing all the needy greedy nasty details about the hardships that all these brave women had experienced proving once again that the truth always comes out.

3: Hidden Figures (2016)

This movie is one of the most inspirational and motivational movies that every woman and every immigrant should watch. It tells the real-life story of three Black women (Katherine, Mary, and Dorothy) who worked at NASA in the 1960s. Despite the racism, discrimination, inhumanity, and gender inequality, these talented and hard-working women continue to pursue their dreams in the white and male-dominated industry.

In the end, due to their talent and resilience, they end up playing a crucial role in the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit proving that only collaborations of diverse and open-minded people will result in real impact.

4: Erin Brockovich (2000)

This inspirational and motivational movie is about a strong, hard-working, smart, and confident single mother who makes a huge breakthrough in a lawsuit against a very large corporation, Pacific Gas & Electric litigation, without having any law background or education.

This story, based on true events documented in an article about people getting personal injuries because of groundwater contamination, shows that determination, humanity, and hard work are more important than any degree.

5: Million Dollar Baby, малышка (2004)

This inspirational movie is about a strong, and hard-working woman who, against all expectations, becomes a world successful and famous boxer. It teaches that being too kind, sometimes, can be lethal and it’s important to recognize the time to step down before it’s too late.

The film follows Maggie (Hilary Swank), a poor and novice boxer who convinces and gets help from an underappreciated boxing trainer (Clint Eastwood) and his help (Morgan Freeman) to achieve her dream of becoming a professional boxer. Maggie transforms from a waitress to a respected and wealthy professional until the horrible tragedy happens.

It’s a movie about the first genocide in the 20th century, the Armenian Genocide when at least 1.5 million Armenian have been brutally tortured and murdered because of their nationality and heritage. It’s about the cruelty and inhumanity but it’s also about love and humanity.
